muse no 24: kenzie elizabeth

when we first had the idea of creating holiday tapers, we envisioned cozy tablescapes that add a warm, festive glow to any celebration.

timeless and versatile, perfect for creating a cozy, stylish and inviting atmosphere during all your holiday gatherings. with that, we knew we had to ask kenzie elizabeth to help make this vision reality.

kenzie, a longtime content creator and founder from texas, helped us tie this collaboration with a bow, literally! read on to hear more about kenzie's journey and how this collab came to be.

tell us your story!

Kenzie: I grew up in TX, the daughter of an interior decorator who had her own bedding and drapery business. My father has always been very business minded. I always say if you’ve ever listened to Ed Mylett, then you know my father. The combination of that has created a very entrepreneurial first born daughter who always wanted to run her own thing.

I’m 27 now living in TX with my 2 dogs- Fitz (named after President Fitz from Scandal) and Coconut (yes- the American Girl Doll dog). I started my youtube channel at 16 years old just documenting my life in high school, what I was wearing, products I was loving and more. As time went on, it eventually evolved into a podcast and me starting my own home brand, Friend of Mine.

What inspired the Kenzie x Mala collaboration?

Kenzie: I’m actually a huge fan of Mala candles. The cereal scent is my all time favorite. My mom is very particular on the types of candles she allows in her house, so when I found a brand with clean ingredients that actually had scents I wanted, I was so excited. When they reached out, it was a no brainer.

If you weren’t in your current career path, how would you be spending your time?

Kenzie: I think I would either be in marketing or on the business side of what I’m doing now. Possibly even managing influencers. I truly have no idea. I started so young, it’s hard to even imagine my life without it.

Tell us a bit about Friend Of Mine and its mission. What does it mean to you?

Kenzie: The core mission of Friend of Mine is to bring people together. I think as a child of divorce, I always wanted that. Being able to create a brand that brings people together, champions vulnerability and intimacy has been something that has meant so much to me. I’m definitely not a surface level talker.

How do you envision these holiday tapers in people's homes/lives?

Kenzie: I love a good dinner party. I envision these at the dinner table for Christmas dinners, holiday parties, girls nights, work parties, and more. Possibilities are endless!

Amidst the busy holiday season and your schedule, how do you prioritize self care in your life?

Kenzie: I am really crazy about my morning routine. My morning routine is my self care. I always need to get morning movement, a little bit of reading and journaling out of the way first thing. That is my self care.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Kenzie: The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is to lean into the uncertainty. I’m in my twenties which seems to feel like the least certain decade of your life, so this has been immensely helpful in regards to truly living out my life in a time that feels so confusing. Then, as an entrepreneur, you truly never know anything. Focusing less on trying to figure it out and more on living regardless of knowing the outcome has been very pivotal for me in this decade of my life.

Any last thoughts?

Kenzie: I am just so excited for the holiday season!
